2003 HK trip finds (Page 1)
A gallery on some of the stuff I found in HK when I was there on personal business. I didn't bother putting a lot of time into the pics (figure layouts, lighting, etc). Just a quick page for my fellow toy collectors to google at. :)

Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball gashapon of Hitomi in the Venus swimsuit. Secret figure and quite rare. I didn't bother getting the regular figures because they didn't look that great. She was quite inexpensive considering her rarity.

Love Hina gashapons. Old and rare. Got the full set! Motoko (long black hair) and Mitsune's (the one with the beer can) faces are sculpted a bit more realistically than the rest. I really like Mitsune's face here. Kaolla (girl with her leg in the air) and Shinobu (turtle on her head) are way cute. Very good overall.

More Love Hina gashapons. Also old and rare. Got the full set here too! Sarah (blond hair) is in a rather provocative pose for her age, imo. The Motoko/Kaolla fig is kinda weird with Kaolla's head submerged in the water with the turtle in her face. One interesting thing is that they made three Shinobus with different faces but didn't make Mitsune. Bizarre. The water splashes are very well done and add a lot of action to some of them. Excellent sculpts overall.

Aiyora Aoshi gashapons. Got the set for a very low price. Good quality and the bases were a nice touch. Very cute.

2001 Wonder Festival Reset-chan figures! VERY rare. Somewhat pricey but well worth it. The seller wouldn't bargain with me cause of their exclusiveness. Paint job could've been better. They are adorable and did I say they are RARE? :)

Sega Gals Collection gashapons. Got this set for Sarah and Ulala. Got the full set for a low price. I didn't know they existed. Very high level of detail.

Onegai Teacher! trading figures. One of the most expensive sets I found in HK. They were new and quite popular. The ones you see here are variants. Their swimsuits have different colors than the ones shown on the box. Excellent sculpts. Very sexy. I might get the regular set. Maybe...

Onegai Teacher! trading figure of Mizuho in her teacher outfit munching Pochy. This is a secret and very rare figure from the above set. The seller sold her to me when I bought the above set. Awesome quality.

Neon Genesis Evangelion gashapons. Got the full set for a low price. Very well made. They look better than some of the regular figures that were being sold for ridiculous prices.

Stellvia gashapons. These were a few of the gashapons of this type where it was being sold in those vending machines in HK . I almost got the whole set. Only one figure evaded me. Thankfully, it was my least favorite so it's not so bad. But I wish I got it so I can complete the set. Oh well. These gashapons cost only $10 HKD each! That's even cheaper than the Japanese retail price (200 Yen). Good deal. Fairly good quality overall.

Gold Flower Ball from the rare series 2 Murakami Superflat Museum gashapons. My sis got this.

Series 3 Murakami Superflat Museum gashapons. My sis got the full set! Very expensive and quite rare. They sold out in less than 40 minutes in Japan from what we were told. The two girls are dark horses compared to the rest, imo. Very cool set overall.

Series 2 Anne of Green Gables gashapons. My sis got the full set. Finely made.

Astroboy tin toys. They were easily available at places called Okashi Land. They are small convience stores located around HK. There's like one at every subway station. The employees were really nice. We wanted to choose which one we wanted so they opened up a bunch of cases and let us choose. I couldn't find a couple I wanted but here's all the ones I liked that were available. I'm not a Astroboy fan but I liked these toys. Very unique.

Counter-strike bootleg figures...lol. Found them at Stanley Market. They are actually very well made little guys. Quite pricey for bootlegs but me and my sis managed to bargain them to a fair price. There were larger ones but they lacked the weight and paint details these smaller ones have. There were also four terrorists but they were awful compared to these. I liked the good guys better anyways. I'm glad I got them. One thing that doesn't make sense to a CS gamer like me is that the guy in green is holding two knives. You can't do that in the game. Oh well.
